We're always looking for ways to expand the care we can provide to patients. That commitment recently led to an important milestone for our ophthalmology service.
Board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist Dr. Benjamin Reynolds performed LVVSC's first retinal reattachment procedure using a phacoemulsification unit with posterior segment capabilities. This highly specialized technology is rarely found in veterinary medicine and allows ophthalmologists to perform advanced procedures for certain retinal conditions.
For pets facing vision-threatening disease, access to these types of treatments can make a meaningful difference. This new capability means more patients in Southern Nevada can receive advanced ophthalmic care without having to travel far from home.
"Having access to this technology allows us to perform procedures that very few veterinary hospitals can offer," said Dr. Reynolds. "It's exciting to bring that capability to Las Vegas and help more patients benefit from advanced ophthalmic care."
